The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West Constituency, Hon Richard Gyan-Mensah has gone to the rescue of his constituents, following the tragic events that led to the death of about 12 teenagers at the Apam beach.

A group of young people who had thronged the Apam beach to swim, in defiance of several words of caution were hit by an unexpected tragedy, as over 15 of them were reported drowned, leaving 12 of them dead.

This sad development, left many wailing across the country, especially as the victims were teenagers

The Member of Parliament for the area, Richard Gyan-Mensah proactively put together a team to help deal with the unfortunate situation. He brought together the fishermen council, the District Chief Executive for the area Bismark Baisie Nkum, the District Police Command, Fisherfolks, Youth of Apam, Mankoadze, Aberakum and the staff of St. Luke Catholic Hospital, to aggressively deal with the situation.

Their search led to the retrieval of 12 dead bodies, 10 of whom have been identified by their family members. There were other 2 survivors, who have received treatment at the St. Luke Hospital and discharged subsequently.

Beyond resourcing the stakeholders he organised to support this rescue mission, the Member of Parliament has also called his constituents to take refuge and Strength in God, even as they mourn.
