Covid-19: You Own No Right To Our Medical Records-Mps To Speaker

For some days now it has been announced of the 8th Parliament of Ghana that Some Members of the house have contracted the Corona virus. This called for the Speaker Mr. Alban Bagbin pitting the information across that some of them were going to attend proceedings online but then this measure seem not to have worked well.

Some Members of Parliament have thrown a challenge to the speaker of Parliament’s threat on publishing their names as persons who have the virus and have refused to seek the required treatment.

Mr. Joseph Osei Owusu, the first deputy to Bagbin read a statement on his behalf indicating that he will take action against persons who have the virus and are still coming to the house for hearings.

Mr. Bagbin states clearly that if these ones fail to pull out of the premises of the house by next week, he will be forced to name them for everyone to kniw that they have the virus.

In a reaction to the statement by the Speaker, some Mps argued that the Speaker of Parliament have no right to publish their health records.

Rockson Dafeamekpor, Mp for Dayi South in an interview on Joynews disclosed that “Although Mr. Bagbin has the results of his comrades who test positive for the virus but it won’t be appropriate to publish their names to the public domain.
