NDC grabs Sene West Parliamentary Seat

The Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sene West Constituency, Mr Kwame Ampofo Twumasi has won.

On Thursday, December 17, 2020, he was declared by the Electoral Commission (EC) as the winner.
This followed series of controversies which over a ballot box which was snatched at the Tato Battor 1 polling station.

Following this, Mr Mackay went to the Wenchi High Court for an injunction to stop the counting of ballots in the Tato Battor 1 polling station.
The Wenchi High Court ordered the EC to go ahead to complete the election in the Sene West Constituency. Ballots for Tato Battor 1 polling station were then counted.

By close of counting, Mr Kwame Ampofo Twumasi polled 275 votes while Mr Mackay, the NPP Candidate polled 148 votes.
After collation, total valid votes stood at 26,407 out of which Mr Twumasi of the NDC polled 13,116 votes. Also, Mr Mackay of the NPP had 13,100 votes. Mr Caesar Fomekah of the National Democratic Party (NDP) polled 191 votes.

The collation was done in the presence of the NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia representing his party. The NPP was also represented by Minister for Regional Reorganisation, Mr Dan Botwe.
